COLORADO SPRINGS — January 24, 2025 — The Housing & Building Association of Colorado Springs (HBA) recognized three members for their distinguished service to the association, the building industry and the community during its Annual Awards Dinner on Thursday, January 23, at Clay Venues. The reception was presided over by Andrea Barlow, Principal at N.E.S., Inc. and 2025 HBA President, and included Mayor Yemi Mobolade, County Commissioners, City Council members, local officials, and 150 HBA Members.
The honorees include:
Associate Member of the Year – Chris Jorgensen, Construction Manager of HR Green, Inc.
Chris Jorgensen has been an active member and leader within the HBA for the last decade. As a result, his involvement in several committees, councils and HBA programs has had an important, lasting impact within the industry and the local community. He currently sits on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee as the Public Policy Advisor and plays a key role on the Utilities Committee, Public Policy Council, and Land Use Committee. Chris is a graduate of the Emerging Leaders Program.
Builder Member of the Year – Loren Moreland, VP/Project Manager of Classic Homes
Loren Moreland, 2026 HBA President-Elect, has been a member of the HBA and the Classic Homes team for over 25 years. During that time, he has demonstrated outstanding leadership and volunteerism in many capacities. He currently sits on the Utilities Committee, Political Action Committee (PAC), Finance Committee, Board or Directors and Executive Committee, and Construction, Codes, & Standards Committee. Loren is also a graduate of the Emerging Leaders Program.
Industry Person of the Year – Scott Smith, YJ Smith, LLC
Scott has been a member of the HBA since 1982 and later served as 1992 HBA President. Since joining, Scott has offered his expertise and leadership on the Education Committee, Political Action Committee (PAC) as Chair, launched the Public Policy Council, served as a National Director, and a State President and CEO. His career has included the development of Briargate, Cordera, Perigrine, Pine Creek, Colorado Crossing, and more. Scott continues to be involved in the industry, serving on the UPAC of Colorado Springs Utilities and City of Colorado Springs, as well as the Chair of the Drainage Board for Colorado Springs and El Paso County.
