Colorado State Resources

Colorado Division of Fire Prevention & Control (DFPC) – View current information on active wildfires, maps, fire restrictions, and county emergency notifications through DFPC's Wildfire Information Resource Center, which also links to the live Wildfire Information Dashboard.

Colorado Division of Insurance (DOI) - Are You Disaster Ready? – The Division of Insurance, part of DORA, helps homeowners before, during, and after a disaster with filing claims, documenting losses, understanding additional living expenses, and creating home inventories. The DOI can also assist with claim questions and complaints, and Colorado has strengthened several homeowner insurance protections following the Marshall Fire. Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) – Check current air quality and wildfire smoke conditions across the state. The page links to the Colorado Smoke Blog and real-time air quality monitoring to help you protect your health during smoke events.

Colorado Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (DHSEM) – DHSEM coordinates statewide preparedness, response, and recovery for all hazards, including wildfire and flood. Visit for preparedness guidance, recovery resources, and updates on declared disasters across Colorado.

Colorado DORA License Lookup (Verify a Contractor) – Verify the license and disciplinary history of state-regulated trades, including electricians and plumbers, through the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). Colorado does not issue a statewide general contractor license; general contractors are licensed by the city or county where the work is performed, so always confirm their credentials with the PPRBD listed below.

Stop Fraud Colorado - Report Contractor Fraud (Colorado Attorney General) – If you believe you have been targeted by a fraudulent or unscrupulous contractor, the Colorado Attorney General's Office provides guidance on recognizing contractor fraud and a path to file a complaint. Disasters can attract out-of-town scammers, so report concerns here and to your local police department.
