Conversion of Temporary Sediment Basins & Traps to Permanent Water Quality Structures

Sediment traps and basins are settling ponds formed by excavation that intercept and retain sediment-laden runoff from a construction site for a sufficient period of time – allowing the majority of sediment to settle out prior to being released from the site.

Sediment traps are often temporary and usually decommissioned after the disturbed area is stabilized Temporary sediment basins can be converted to permanent stormwater management basins after construction is complete.

This class will cover the City’s program and requirements for those conversions. The County will also weigh-in on best practices for maintaining those basins during the construction phase.
