Purchasing Manager

The following outline is to serve as a guide for expected job performance. The job outline for Purchasing Manager includes the Scope of Work outlined below; however, is not limited to the outlined responsibilities.


With the direction of the E&P Director and within the framework of the overall objectives, policies, procedures and commitments of Vantage Homes Corporation, the Purchasing Manager is responsible for, and has commensurate authority to accomplish the fulfillment of the scope of work outlined below, as well as other duties as may be required from time to time.

  • • Manage the Purchasing Department, overseeing the employees and their workload and the status of option pricing and trade partners
  • • Oversee the coordination of the Estimating and Purchasing Departments, in conjunction with the Estimating Manager, to ensure efficiency and communication are maintained between the two departments
  • • Maintain relationships with trade partners and suppliers
  • • Negotiate pricing increase terms and implementation with trade partners
  • • Review proformas (prepared by Estimating Dept) with management to determine plan pricing
  • • Routinely meet with Production management team to review Trade Partner performance
  • • Source and review new potential trade partners
  • • Continually monitor pricing of volatile commodities to ensure homes/options are priced appropriately
  • • Manage company specifications publication and product offerings
  • • Oversee the management and reporting of the budgets for homes currently under construction
  • • Assist Purchasing Agent with Electronic Trade Partner folder organization to ensure all necessary documentation is sorted and stored as directed
  • • Review and maintain retail option pricing and provide periodical summary to management team
  • • Set option pricing for new product
  • • Create accurate, real-time, detailed job cost analysis reporting
  • • Assist Purchasing Agent in management of Model Home and Rebate Programs
  • • Continually explore cost effective products, trends, techniques, and changes in the home-building industry

Education and Experience

  • • 4 years’ experience with a local, residential production builder
  • • 4-year college degree preferred
  • • 2 years’ Purchasing Department management experience
  • Pay: $100,000 – $110,000 + additional bonuses
